Northwest Trails Archive and Restoration Project

An activist effort to inventory, restore and maintain public land recreational trails of Oregon, Washington and Northern California. Many of these trails have been abandoned by the Forest Service and no longer appear on current maps.

Bunchgrass Meadow - photo by James Johnston Just 14 miles from the town of Oakridge, OR this area provides many low-impact recreational opportunities through the Bunchgrass Ridge trail. Star ting near Oakridge, this trail leads to the Pacific Crest Trail. The Bunchgrass Ridge Trail has been maintained through volunteer efforts for the Eugene to Pacific Crest trail route and the annual Warner Creek Fire Ecology hike. Many people in the Eugene community and beyond have been introduced to this area through the hikes that have been coordinated by activists over the past five years.


Red Cloud Thunder

An on-going timber sale protest in the Willamette NF. Forest Activists have occupied platforms 180+ feet high since March 1998. So far, the have resisted repeated and intense efforts by the Forest Service/Timber Industrial complex to harass and suppress c oncerned citizens thorugh Waco and Panama Invasion like siege tactics.
