From Gannas Regarding the ACM Bhealltain Festival

To the nearly 500 members and friends who attended the weekend; I thank you for your willingness to know and keep the ancient ways and for your gracious companionship. As many of you know, my mother passed from this world shortly before the Festival. All who were involved in the planning, offered to do the work of cancelling the event.  My mother taught me that good friends and good family are eternal. I decieded to continue with the event in her memory. The owl that flew overhead at the conclusion of my part in the fire building and firelighting ceremony introduction was an approving visit by the spirit from which both my mother and I come.

On behalf of the foundation and the community that were enriched by your presence, I would like to extend our gratitude to Faeron Simpson, Wylie McKinnon, Ken Soklov and David Helfand for their musical talent, The Men of the Woods for a fabulous evening fire lighting ceremony, the people who shared their future persuits for the coming year at the torc initiation ceremony and Etain Wilday for her inspired crafts workshop.  The belted Galloway cattle brought by Jackie Morris were a comical and joyous addition, sometimes reminding us of our human frailty among the animal world. By the aid of Kym and J.R. Stallings we enjoyed the visits of 'Mae' the big black Percheron horse, Megan bringing the miniature horses and Phyllis Heland; the Shetland sheep herd. Blessings to the historical re-enactors including the Welsh staff fighters, the wool carders and spinners, soapmaker, Iron and metal workers and ale brewer. Your contribution to our experience of and learning about our history is why we do these events! Through the good works of the vendors, volunteers, the event co-ordinators and directors of the Foundation the whole event was a marvelous success. Without you we would not have such marvelous gatherings to be a part of. Thank you for your support and guidance.

This event and others like it will help to activate the Foundation's Scholarship Grant Fund. Thank you for your part in making the dreams of the Foundation and the future grant recipients a reality.

     Blessings ,

Heather Thompson
