On Margit's confirmation certificate, it lists her name as "Margit Morbekk" and her parents as Julius Ellertsen and Jorgina To"nnesdtr.

John and Margit met in 1922, when John was in Norway supervising a crew that installed the first electric power in southern Norway. He boarded with Margit's older sister, Thora Haaversen Westhassel, who was widowed the same year when her husband, Captain Otto Haaversen, was lost at sea. John immigrated to the U.S. in 1923.
