Happy 20th
Birthday EVQ!
Welcome!
Our Guild was created in 1992 to encourage and share the art of quilting; to educate and learn, preserve and pass along information about quilts of the past and present; to exhibit fine examples of the art in public; and to encourage quiltmaking and collection, both private and public. Guests are welcome - we think you'll enjoy the many quilting activities and opportunities the Guild offers, along with making new friends.

Lecture Title:   “One Quilter’s Journey”

Sheila Finzer’s photo inspired quilts are intricately collage, painted and thread painted artistic renditions of landscapes, nature studies, portraits and abstracts.  Sheila will talk about her journey from a novice quilter through her continuing journey to the present.  She will bring many quilts and talk about the process she used with each quilt and share not only their attributes but the struggle she had with each piece.

Emerald Quilt Guild     Class with Sheila Finzer  May 19, 2012

Class Title:   “Nature-scapes”

You do not have to be an artist to make a beautiful realistic quilt from your landscape photo(s).  Sheila Finzer will show you a technique to make a pattern from your photo, and using fabric collage make a Nature-scape quilt.  She will also discuss composition, value and color choices, how to quilt these quilts, and show you her finishing “facing” technique.  It will be a very busy class, but we will have lots of fun and learning going on!

You can find a list of our guest speakers and links are  on our Programs & Workshops page.
