Public Call for KLCC, Eugene

As a PUBLIC radio station, we believe KLCC can do more in fulfilling its social, civic and cultural responsibilities to our community. KLCC currently locally produces two hours per week (excluding local news) of public affairs programming, while NPR and other national program producers provide the rest.

Recently, local community organizations requested an available one hour time slot dedicated to broadcasting their public presentations. The KLCC management turned them down fearing lack of ratings, while chosing instead to re-run a popular network program in pursuit of underwriting dollars.

We are petitioning KLCC to increase their local community programming. Please help by copying the following form, fill it out and send it to Don Hein, KLCC FM program director

We, the undersigned, protest replacement of "This American Life" with a replay of "Car Talk" on Sunday afternoons. We petition you to dedicate that time to broadcasting locally produced public affairs programming to include voices of citizens groups in our community.
