Greta relaxing and soaking mosquito bites at our campsite at Prideaux Haven. The water was warm enough to have a swim. The Desolation Sound is the meeting place of two tidal streams from the Juan de Fuca Straight to the south and the Johnstone Straight to the north. This joinging of these tidal streams limits the flushing action of the tides and makes the waters of the Desolation Sound some of the warmest north of the Gulf of Mexico.
This bay above which we camped was a play area for a number of seals. They continued to frollic in the waters below our campsite for most of the day while we were there. Unfortunately, their low profile in the water and distance from us, didn't make for very good pictures. We continued to see seals throughout our entire time in the Desolation Sound.
