Government Agencies
- National
IPM Network (NIPMN) - is the result of a
public-private partnership dedicated to making the latest
and most accurate pest management information available
on the World Wide Web. Participating institutions have
agreed to a set of standards which ensure science-based,
unbiased pest management information. The backbone of the
National IPM Network consists of web servers for each of
the USDA defined regions in the U.S. (Southern,
Northeastern, North Central, and Western). Within each
region, participating institutions are providing
state-specific or subject-specific information.

Information and Decision Support System - The U.S.
Department of Agriculture, Federal Drug Administration
and Environmental Protection Agency in an unprecedented
joint announcement set a goal of developing and
implementing IPM on 75% of the total crop acreage by the
year 2000.
- Virtual
Center for IPM - the WWW information source from and
about the National Science Foundation - sponsored by the
Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for
Integrated Pest Management, located at North Carolina
State University.
- National
Parks Service IPM Manual - provides descriptions of
the biology and management of 21 species or categories of
pests.Since implemementing an IPM program in the early
1980's, the Park Service has reduced pesticide use by
over 60 percent while improving the effectiveness of its
pest management efforts. Key elements in this success
were formal training and the provision of printed and
audiovisual materials.
- IPMnet/Center
for Integrated Crop Protection - The Consortium for
International Crop Protection (CICP), a non-profit
organization, was formed in 1978 by a group of U.S.
universities. IPMnet is the CICP's response to the
critical need for an international IPM
information/communication network. IPMnet offers access
to databases, the IPMnet NEWS, as well as other
agricultural publications, a message board, and
communication with others. Emphasis is placed on
agriculture in developing countries.
- Integrated
Plant Protection Center - organized to emphasize
strong interdisciplinary collaboration among the crop
protection disciplines of entomology, weed science, plant
pathology, and pesticide chemistry/toxicology, as well as
related fields of crop science, horticulture, range
management, and forestry. Located at Oregon State
University.
- Integrated
Pest Management Information Service (IPMIS) - an
electronic library of information on integrated pest
management in agriculture, landscapes, buildings, homes,
gardens, rights-of-ways and other locations. Topics
include identification, monitoring and prevention of
pests, using least-toxic controls, biological controls,
pesticide safety and other pest management related
subjects. Sponsored by the British Columbia Ministry of
Environment, Lands and Parks.
- APHIS - USDA
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service
- Armed Forces Pest
Management Board (AFPMB) - their mission is to
coordinate and
develop policy for pest management and vector control
activities throughout the Department of Defense,
to ensure effective support of the operating forces in
prevention of vector-borne diseases, and to prevent
losses from pest attack on subsistence, supplies, and
facilities. It also functions as the scientific/research
advisory body and coordination/liaison activity of the
Department of Defense for pest management, and it
operates the Defense
Pest Management Information Analysis Center (DPMIAC).

Working Group on IPM in Greenhouse Crops - The aim of

Control Laboratory (Purdue) - their goal is to
facilitate the use of biological control in various crop
production systems. To achieve this goal, the Laboratory
is involved in a number of research, teaching and
outreach activities.
- International
Institute of Biological Control (IIBC) - one of the
scientific Institutes of CAB International. For nearly 70
years it has provided a unique global service in
research, training and information in biological control,
and the use of living organisms as pest control agents.
- Landscape
Ecology and Biological Control Lab (Michigan State Dept.
of Entomolgy & Pesticide Research Center) - their
goal is to contribute to the design and management of
ecologically-based pest management systems by
understanding the influence of habitat and landscape

monthly newsletter dedicated to providing information on
