BEFORE THE CONVENIENCE OF COMMERCIAL PET FOOD . . .
- Pets usually ate what was leftover from their owners’ meals, which were made from simple, whole and unrefined foods.
- Often pets would go out into the woods and fields after prey, supplementing their diets with raw meat
containing live cells.
- There were fewer pollutants in our air, water and food.
BACK IN THOSE DAYS . . .
- Most pets died of ripe, old ages; not in their youth or prime from diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart
problems, kidney and liver failure, etc.
- It was hard to find pets with skin conditions or allergies.
- People didn’t spend much money on pets and veterinarians dealt with dogs and cats mostly to stitch wounds and splint bones, if at all.
