Last night I got a call right at the beginning of my fill-in shift at KWVA.  I signed up to do the news hour in the evenings while the News Director is out of town.  I figured the karma could help me out, as I've been stiffed for the last two Tuesday nights.  You see, you can never leave the radio station unattended, even if the next DJ does not show up.  If you get stood up and you can't find a soul kind enough to come in and relieve you, there's no other choice: you're hanging around for another shift.

It turns out the DJ who is supposed to come in after me has been out of town, so it's not necessarily his fault that his fill-ins are such flakes.  Last night, however, he called to say that his car broke down (yet another reason to go car-free) and he was stuck in Portland.  Lickily, I had time enough to dash home and pick out a bunch of records to play.  I have been on a vinyl kick for the past two weeks. Playing a two-hour show from records is a great way to not get bored in the studio.  It gets really busy, and you have to stay on top of your organization, otherwise records and sleeves and envelopes get scattered all over the place and then you have to figure out how everything gets put back together.

Here is the setlist I played last night:
