In the Lingen Stadt archives there were a number of records with
regard to property and income taxes for those residing in Lingen
Stadtflur.
An attempt was made to discover when the Neubauerei was established by examining when the earliest tax payment was made on Haus No.19 in Lingen Stadtflur. For the period 1817 - 1822 it appears that the property was occupied by a Muter1 in 1819, 1820, and 1821. There were no tax data before 1819 as respects that property. However, in 1821 a Wessling was shown as being at Haus No. 21.2 For the period July 1, 1822 - 23 at Haus No. 19 a Wessling household was shown to have consisted of 2 adults, 1 male and 1 female, and apparently the male and as to his trade or occupation, "ohne" was noted. The tax was 0/3/4. A Wessling family at that location continued to be assessed a tax during the period July 1, 1824 - 27. For the period July 1, 1828 - 29 a Wesling family at Haus No. 19 was comprised of 2 males and 2 females with no children over the age of 16. The tax class was "6". |

1. It is not known how the property was actually conveyed to the Wesslings. The census returns for 1816 used the word, "wüste" to indicate that the property was vacant. 2. In 1913 that address may have been Östliche Stadtflur 1.
