JOHANN HEINRICH WESSLING 1

He married Anna Aleid Kuhr on May 14, 1820 in Lingen at the Church of St. Bonifatius.

The groom was a "Neubauer" and an "Eigenwohner"2 in Lingen Stadtflur 3 at the time of their marriage.
The bride was from Laxten and according to the parish's records she was born there on November 2, 1795.

Her parents were Johann Albert Kuhr, "Kleidermacher", and Anna Gesina Lambers, who were both from Laxten.




    (Witnesses were Anton Pollmann and Johann Heinrich Kuhr, who was from Laxten.)

Johann Heinrich died on February 1, 1845 in Lingen Stadtflur.
Anna Aleid died on July 8, 1867 in Lingen Stadtflur.

They were the parents of the following children:


Anna Adelheid
was born on February 27, 1821 in Lingen Stadtflur and was christened on the same day in Lingen.
(Sponsor was Anna Aleid Weßling, "Wittwe u. Großmutter".)
She was unmarried and died on February 17, 1885 in Laxten.

Johann Albert
was born on June 29, 1822 in Lingen Stadtflur and was christened on the same day in Lingen.
(Sponsor was Johann Albert Kuhr, "Heuermann u. Kleidermacher".)4

Anna Gesina
was born on February 24, 1825 in Lingen Stadtflur and was christened on the following day in Lingen.
(Sponsor was Gesina Cuer.)5
She married Gerhard Heinrich Kuhl on May 14, 1850 in Lingen.

was stillborn on November 10, 1827.

Gerhard Heinrich
was born on April 13, 1829 in Lingen Stadtflur and was christened on the following day in Lingen.
(Sponsor was Gerhard H.  Kuhr, "Studiosus".)6
He married Maria Anna Braam on April 6, 1856 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Church of St. Philomena.

Joh. Herm. Heinrich
was born on April 30, 1832 in Laxten and was christened on the following day in Lingen.
(Sponsor was J. H. Kuhr of Laxten, "Nebenschullehrer".)7
He died in Lingen on March 23, 1851.

Bernhard Heinrich
was born on May 25, 1835 in Lingen Stadtflur and was christened on the same day in Lingen.
(Sponsor was B. H. Wessing, "Neubauer", of Laxten.)8
He died in Lingen on July 7, 1852.

Johann Hermann
was born on September 3, 1838 in Lingen Stadtflur and was christened on the following day in Lingen.
(Sponsor was Johann Herm Fielers of Mengers Heuer in Laxten.)9
He married Engeline Catharina Elisabeth Wenner on October 30, 1866 in Lingen.

 

NOTES:

1. During this generation the spelling of the surname was amended by omitting the second "e" and by using the "ß" character.

Also, this generation is no longer of the Heuerleute social class with the establishment of the Neubauerei circa 1819. For more details on the history of the Neubauerei, including a map from the 1870's showing the property in relationship to the adjoining parcels of land, please refer to the Research Section.

2. An Eigenwohner is a person who resides on the property which is owned by that person.

This section of Lingen was described as follows: "Lingen ist ein Landstadtchen.  Viele Leute besitzen einen Garten.  Manche haben auch einen Acker.  Die Stadt ist deshalb von Feldern oder Fluren umgeben.  Diese nächste Umgebung der Stadt heißt Stadtflur.  Dazu gehören auch schon die Straßen außerhalb des Stadtgrabens."5
