Charlcie Kaylor President
Clif Cox, who perhaps more than any individual deserves the title "OPN founder," says "The experience and grace she brings to this post makes this challenging job look almost easy."
Charlcie has served as President since October, and was re-elected to the post during the new board's first meeting April 8. "I was pleased to bring my business and community service background to such a dynamic organization," she wrote.
In accepting her nomination for re-election to the board, she wrote, "In the past year I helped with various projects including OPN's presence at the Eugene Celebration and serving as an OPN representative on the Voter's Information Coalition which brought together the League of Women Voter's (of which I am a member), the City Club and OPN to produce an on-line voter's pamphlet.
"I hope that OPN can continue it's important influence by helping to inform it's citizens. I am very proud of OPN and its accomplishments want to work to increase this powerful tool's ability to do even more good in this community.

The new OPN Governance Council Chair, John Duncan, stated, "Her leadership and diligence have seen OPN through thick & thin -- especially her diligence in acting as a voice for groups of people that might otherwise be under- represented in our organizational decisions (women, for instance)."
John added, "She has technical knowledge of network administration, and important experience and insight into local governmental decision- making." Noting that "with this election...OPN's board of directors will again expand to represent more diverse interests in the community, and be less technically oriented...
"I feel that Lorraine -- with her long OPN history and ability to bridge gaps between the technical experts and the technically naive -- will be more valuable than ever."

Paul wrote, "I have been involved in EFN and OPN pretty much from the beginning. I'd like to continue on the board to continue helping this organization grow and fulfill its mission of making these communications capabilities available to all and to help provide a vibrant and exciting online community for our area.
"In the coming year I'd like to be more involved in tracking and helping to keep a grip on the financial situation of the organization."
Clif Cox
In nominating OPN founder Clif Cox, John Duncan wrote, "Clif is unjaded. After years of OPN's turmoil and growing pains, Clif is still creative, enthusiastic, and able to come up with great ideas and get things done. I appreciate his endurance and hope it continues."
Eben Dobson
Incumbent director and former president Eben Dobson was nominated by Gary Frazier, office manager and member of the governance council, who wrote, "Eben Dobson has been instrumental in telling OPN's story in the local business community.... He has represented us before the Governor's Telecommunications Task Force, and brings to OPN years of experience in dealing with the movers and shakers in Eugene."
The above incumbants were members of the board that orchestrated the move to OPN's new office and selection of its first paid general manager. (Please see "OPN board caps accomplishments" in the April EFN Newsletter). They bring continuity and experience to the new board. Three incumbants did not accept nomination for re-election, but continue to volunteer with OPN in other capacities: Steve Barton, Norton Caball, and John Duncan. John was elected to chair of the governance council, which gives him a seat on the board.
Three new members were elected to the board of directors.
