Nora was here from March 31st to April 6th! It was a great visit. The longest so far.
I can't say that we did anything overly exciting (the weather didn't really cooperate), but just being together is constant fun and we both enjoy it. Things in my work scheduled allowed me to take most of the time off. There were some email and telephone calls I had to attend to and I had to go in to the office on Wednesday morning. Nora stayed with Betty Briggs down the street. Overall it was ideal so that Nora and I could spend as much time together as possible.
Nora says a lot of things that are really cute.
I especially like it when we have this dialog:
"Dad."
"What?"
"I love you."
"Oh, thanks. I love you too."
Other things she says are:
"You're my dad." and "You're my only daddy."
During the time she was here, we ate a lot of macaroni and cheese. It's her favorite. After the first two meals of the box-type mac and cheese, we went to the store and bought the real stuff- Velveeta cheese and macaroni elbows. Two pounds of cheese costs almost 6 dollars, but it makes a lot of really great mac and cheese. Nora and I made up a macaroni and cheese song: Mac, mac, mac, macaroni and cheese. We sing this really loud while waving our hands in the air and turning around.
We had macaroni and cheese for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Actually, Nora wanted it for every meal, but I just got tired of it so we had waffles, cereal, toast, a sandwich, etc.
We visited a lot of people while she was here. Nora is especially great at playing quietly with other children and charming other adults.
We colored Easter Eggs and made Easter baskets. It was really great to watch her carefully drop the eggs into the dye. I try to let her do as much by herself as possible. It takes patience sometimes, but she is certainly willing to try to do things without help, then ask for help if she is unable. It's fun watching her try and try and really fun to see her figure it out!
Nora played a lot with her friends in the neighborhood and was even formally invited to join the other children in the cul-de-sac for an Easter Egg hunt and lunch on Easter Day, but she will not be here that weekend.
I love being a dad and love my little girl. It's so nice to have her here in my house with me. This week has helped me to have a greater appreciation for single parents. Everything that can't be done with the child has to wait until nap time, but one wants to take a nap too. It's a lot of work, but it is a labor of love for sure.
My brother Dave from Boulder and Miriam his girlfriend from Edmonton were here for one night and part of the next day. It was great to see Dave. They were on their way to San Francisco. Nora liked playing with Miriam.
