My Father's Eyes
by Anna Dart, Roosevelt Middle School
Have you ever seen a look of total peace? I have, in
my father's eyes. My father is the kind of man who
looks at the world in a unique kind of way. Like all the
answers in the world are in the sunset and the trees. and
if you believe in yourself and keep on trying someday
you will find them. Or at least that's what I think I see
in my fathers eyes sometimes. He will drive up to the
mountains and then he will start on a a long hike, My
father goes for miles before he decides to stop. He won't
say a word butholds a finder to his lips and closes his
eyes and listens to the sounds of the wilderness. But I
think he really hears more than that. Then he opens his
eyes and just looks around at the beauty of the earth and
that's when I see it. A little spark that oculd only mean
one thing- peace. I once asked my father what the most
beautiful sound in the world was and he said that the
sound of the wind in the trees suited that title. My father
is a normal person and you can't see all this at first glance
but if you look deeper you may find something more,
a thing that each person holds in a different way. I call
it peace.
