Worldwork: The Practice of Deep Democracy
in Group Facilitation
Group Transformation using Conflict
and Diversity
St. Petersburg, March 24 - 27, 2011
Reini Hauser, Ph. D.
Process-oriented group work views inner troubles, relationship difficulties,
group and social tensions and even dreams and body symptoms
as interconnected aspects of a creative process coming to life. Trusting
the wisdom of conflict and diversity and using a precise methodology
called WORLDWORK to unfold what is hidden in a group, we are able to transform
disturbances and make them allies for change and growth.
WORLDWORK is based on the concept of deep democracy, a philosophy
which believes that in order to create sustainable community,
all voices must have the opportunity to express themselves. It takes psychology
beyond individual work into areas of social consciousness
and facilitation awareness. Further, it takes politics beyond problem-solving
to creating community, a most sacred and perennial interest of human beings.
We will work on collective issues with a special emphasis on conflict,
power, and diversity. We will learn how to stay centered in the heat
of conflict and develop a toolkit for group facilitation .
Some of the topics will include
§ Inner and Outer Diversity and Conflict
§ Rank, Power and Privilege in Relationship
§ Facilitation Skills with Small and Large Groups
§ Leadership and Eldership
This training seminar will be useful for anyone working with or interested
in community and group life, including therapists, facilitators,
social workers, people from religion, law enforcement and politics. The
work will be both theoretical and experiential, in pairs, in the small
and in the large group and in open seat. Be prepared to turn yourself
inside out and to turn the world upside down.
