The Bassoon ?

Ok, I can hear it in your keystrokes, you're asking "what the h*ll is the bassoon and why is she advertising that she does this?"

Well, the bassoon is a wind instrument, more precisely a double reed, that dates back further than I could ever hope to remember. But a faster introduction is that it plays the grandfather in Peter and the Wolf. Or, for you cartoon fans, when Wiley Coyote slowly slithers to the desert floor after failing at some dastardly attempt to grab the Roadrunner? That's usually a bassoon trailing him in the soundtrack. Ok? So, here are some sites that are of interest to all double reed players, not just bassoonists.

The International Double Reed Society or the IDRS as it's called, is the meeting place for all double reed players.

To see what a bassoon looks like take a look at John Balogh's page at Penn State.

The Past President of the IDRS, Yoshi Ishakawa has a few words for the double reed players of the world.
