The NOT Gate

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might NOT sin against you. Praise be to you, O Lord; teach me your decrees.
Psalm 119:11-12 (NIV)

How It Works

The Interactive NOT Gate

NOT
A NOT Input A NOT Gate Y
(Small Symbol)
As NOT Input AS Small NOT Gate Ys
Y = |A
Ys = |As

Equivilent Logic Circuits

NAND
XOR
A NOT Input A2 NAND Gate 2 Y A NOT Input A3 XOR Gate 3 Y
1
Y = |(A·A)
Y = (A(+)1)

The NOR gate will work just like the NAND gate if all inputs are wired together.
The XNOR gate will work like the XOR except that one input should always be 0.

Check out the Device List, also see the NAND Gate and the XOR Gate.

NOTE: In most texts NOT is indicated by a solid line over the input or equation, I use the "|" character before the input, and before the equation in parentheses because HTML doesn't allow for this to be done easily.
