President's Column

It's clear to me that no one consulted a Jewish homemaker when devising the daylight savings time routine. Life normally has such a nice rhythm to it; as we go into winter, each Shabbos is just 10 minutes or so earlier than the last, so I can adjust without giving it too much thought. But the first Shabbos after we set the clocks back always catches me short and wondering how it could be so dark so soon. The Board of Directors will set about trying to avoid a similar problem this winter. Through thoughtful strategic planning, goal setting and fund raising, we hope to get everything we want done before it's too dark (financially). Bezrat HaShem, we will find the financial means to make our dreams come true without having to severely shrink our dreams.

This month will be one of the most exciting we've ever had, with special events scheduled every week. I encourage you to come to one or more of them with a friend who's never been to the Minyan before. Each of you is an important ambassador to the community, and can help show others the remarkable diversity within our community and the breadth of our programming. I especially want to encourage you to come to our "Colors of Jerusalem" arts and crafts fair on November 24 from 10 - 4. (Please see the enclosed flyer for more information). This is an important fund raiser for us, with a percentage of all sales going to the Minyan.

Be well.

Nechama
