Welcome to the Train Art Page!

I like trains.  My dad used to add to our "O" gauge rolling stock every xmas.  Each of us three boys had our own locomotive and cars. Mine was the Milwaukee Road.  I had a trolley and a dump car that worked with a special magnetic track.

A good deal of world travel has resulted in some great train rides.  East Berlin to Gdansk, Poland before the Wall came down.  East Berlin was a bit like a spy movie.  Northern Uganda; vintage English cars with oscillating fans on the ceiling.  Real wood work.  Chewed up sugar cane flying out the windows.  South Africa;  I hitched a ride on a coal steamer and rode in the cabin with the engineer and crew.  It was an Apartheid era train.  I wonder what the crew looks like now. New Zealand, from Christchurch up to Arthur's Pass.  A backpacking trip; downtown station to wilderness trailhead.   Northern Zambia to Dar es Salaam.  The Chinese built "Socialist Modern"station in north Zambia was in the middle of nowhere. Saw some giraffes from the train crossing Tanzania. Trains are wonderful and deserve to be a far more important part of America's transportation mix.

Railroad Art arrives in a variety of ways. I have painted life sized train murals in the Railroad Museum in Galveston, Texas. I can make a beautiful painting from your favorite train photo. Dioramas, your favorite landscape or urban backdrop adds realism to a model layout.

All of my art, except painting directly on an exterior wall, can be accomplished in my studio. The dioramas can be painted on cambric cloth, rolled up, put in a tube and delivered via US Mail, or other parcel service. They can be wall sized and usually installed [relocated if necessary] with an office paper stapler. See Large Movable Paintings to learn more.

The internet provides an effective way to collaborate on a project, even at a distance. Your satisfaction is my highest priority. I will travel to paint as well.

The thumbnails below and the larger images they lead to give a clear view of my style. Detail is my signature. Comments are welcome!
