Meeting called to order 1:20pm

  1. Treasurers Report
    $1425 in bank. Spent $50 for Frankport printing.
    T-shirts we have about 20 left. Billy suggests getting national t-shirts and stickers for our upcoming fundraisers and events. Our Oregon t-shirts are not moving. Billy should order stickers (hold off on T- shirts for now) and have bill sent from national to Richard and he will cut check.
    How about Oregon stickers? $1/sticker is approximate cost to make. Andrew Rodman (not present) has a contact.
  2. Volleyball Tournament - Seaside, OR
    August 10th /11th.
    Up to $10,000 donation to Oregon Surfrider. Ed Zane, is main marketing guy. Billy is in contact. Will ask for a minimum donation guaranteed for our time and energy to help out with the contest. Billy has been in contact with National about any restrictions.
    Meeting will be in Portland at Salvdore Molly's, and members who would like to be present are welcome. Dave would like to be included.
  3. Pacific Northwest Surfrider Conference 2001, Westport OR
    28th/29th April 2001.
    Members who would like to attend, send Billy an email. Or, call Chateaux Westport and make your reservation. Washington will be covering the cost of the room. If you are going and have made a reservation, please be sure to contact Billy via email and let him know you are definitely attending.
  4. Earth Day, 22 April 2001
    Adopt-a-highway clean up with the Coastal Hang-gliding Association.
    All attendees must first watch a video before clean up. The state will provide us with bags, gloves, vests, etc.
    Ralph is emailing Kurt to get clean up on the website, as well as a notice to members of which stretch is ours and to help keep the area clean.
    Ralph will also contact Hang-gliders to firm up when the video watching will happen, what time we will meet, what we need to bring..
  5. Audubon Society Meeting Friday 4 May, 2001
    10am-2pm.
    John Marra will attempt to make it to the meeting, but can not promise anything. He will email out if he can not make it. Paul Klarin may attend as part of his job. Dave Revell may attend as it is his day off.
  6. Frankport
    Rich - letter has been sent to state parks, no response. Steve Shipsey may be in discussion with Dave Wright, (who is somehow involved with the state, and this possible acquisition.) Steve S not present to comment.
    Postcards have been made and look great.
    Dave will drop off postcards to Portland area surf shops.
    Billy - will drop off to Bob Ledbetter
    Donica - will distribute to OSU surf club
  7. Measure 66
    Billy will send state's response to our letter to the SR Oregon, librarian - Greg Chilina.
  8. OSU Intern
    Donica Dunnigan will be OSU intern for Surfrider (3 units) - yippee for Donica!, Dave is intern coordinator and supervisor.
    Intern responsibilities: Christian (?) is also being considered as our legal intern. Our emails are being sent back, so we have not be able to finalize anything with him.
  9. Newsletter - Kimmie
    Paul and Dave have already submitted articles.
    Other items in newsletter: adopt-a-highway clean up, May event, Washington conference, longboard contest.
    All other submissions are due Wednesday April 11th. Although anything that does not make it in time for this newsletter will be slated for the next newsletter. So send in those submissions!!!
    When we go hard copy with the mailer it will cover a portion of our population we are not reaching with emails and website.
  10. T-shirts
    John Morris - beneficial t's, patagonia. Short sleeve $3.90/long sleeve $4.+. No minimum order. $1/shirt printing one color, additional $.25/color.
    Suggested T-shirt graphics: T-shirt idea: Patagonia T-shirts w/ Oregon Surfrider on front right left breast. Back Oregon logo, with possibly "keepers of the coast." John and Ralph will come up with ideas and present at the next meeting.
  11. Bob Ledbetter - Cape Kiwanda Longboard Contest
    4th and 5th August, 2001
    Ralph and Billy will subcommittee. Bob would like us to discuss/consider the following responsibilities: We need someone to coordinate a booth. An actual physical booth, t-shirts, stickers, hard copy of newsletter, fliers, people to sit at the booth.

  12. Mother Ocean Day
    12 May 2001, time TBA, contingent on time of comedy night.
    The inn is having a comedy night that night. Do we want to co-ordinate?Yes. Surf, beer, and comedy. Some sort of a discount if you are wearing a Surfrider T-shirt.
    We need a booth.
    Same as last year: report card and paddle out.
    Billy will coordinate.
    Andrew R (not present) has offered to be media/press rep.
    Chris Speakman (not present) has offered to take photos. We will send photos and short article to national.
    Billy will be chair. Committee: Donica.
