Yaquina Head BLM Fee Protest
Surfrider Foundtion and the Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition will stage a peaceful protest on Satuday October 3 between 3:30 and 4:30 at the new Toll Booth to Yaquina Head. Meet in the Public Parking Lot for Agate Beach. We shouldn't be charged to just check the surf. The BLM repeatedly told us that there would be no fees for using the road and parking area on their land overlooking outside Agate. But starting Oct. 1 they will begin charging $5 per vehicle and plans are in the works to begin charging for pedestrians if they don't raise the money they need to pay for 15 new staff members!

We beat the BLM to express your disapproval of this latest attempt to shift costs onto beach users. Write to the BLM Oregon State Director, Elaine Zielinski, P.O. Box 2965, Portland, OR 97208. For more information call Ralph Meier at 265 8703 (Newport), Fran Rech at 765 2234 (Depoe Bay), or John Morris at 349 0612 (Eugene).

Support the Blue Water Task Force in Oregon
The Oregon Chapter is asking for support from Surfrider members and others to raise funds for the purchase of water quality testing kits. Involvement in the Blue Water Task Force made possible by these kits will enable Surfrider to independently monitor water quality throughout the Oregon coast and at known trouble spots. Water quality information will be made available to the public throught this web site and other means and will be an invaluable tool when lobbying for the recognition and correction of water pollution issues.

Please consider a donation to the Oregon Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation in support of increased awareness of water quality issues and, ultimately, clean water. See the Surfrider National Blue Water Task Force page and then use the Oregon Surfrider donation form to support the program in Oregon.
