
Dance Theatre of Oregon 2003-04 Season
Dance Theatre of Oregon is pleased to announce its 2003-04 Hult Center Season
with two programs continuing DTO's tradition of colorful dance theater
choreography rich in artistry, energy and humor. With a "contempo classique"
flair each program celebrates and explores music, choreography and literature in
both the classical and contemporary styles. Opening with two evening
performances on Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6 will be Gems of the
Valley, An Evening of Music and Dance by Ashens, Manzi, Lehan-Siegel and Siegel
. This program will feature sparkling performances by four world class artists
residing in the Willamette Valley; Robert Ashens, Carol Ann Manzi, Marc Siegel
and Pamela Lehan-Siegel. This specially created concert will offer solos, duets,
trios and quartets by the foursome to music from classical to contemporary
blended with original choreography. Well known to area opera goers, Maestro
Ashens and Manzi will join with the DTO directors to create a program to
delight, surprise, move you emotionally and lift your spirits.
Dance Theatre of Oregon's second offering will be an all Bach performance for
audiences of all ages entitled Bach and the Storybook. With three performances
including two matinee and one evening show on Saturday, May 15 at 2:30 and 7:30
PM and Sunday, May 16 at 2:30 , Bach and the Storybook uses the music of JS Bach
for all three of the programıs dances, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperorıs New
Clothes and the all new Steadfast Tin Soldier. Whether classical interpretations
or "switched on" Bach, the "storybook" interprets the tales
with dance theater choreography featuring the DTO company as well as guest
performers (ages 4-84) from the community in a delightful and colorful romp with
Bach. In addition to performances at the Hult, the Dance Theatre of Oregon will
be busy with touring to Nevada and Canada in addition to appearances with Hult
resident companies including Eugene Concert Choir.
