Dance Theatre of Oregon 2003-04 Season

Dance Theatre of Oregon is pleased to announce its 2003-04 Hult Center Season with two programs continuing DTO's tradition of colorful dance theater choreography rich in artistry, energy and humor. With a "contempo classique" flair each program celebrates and explores music, choreography and literature in both the classical and contemporary styles. Opening with two evening performances on Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6 will be Gems of the Valley, An Evening of Music and Dance by Ashens, Manzi, Lehan-Siegel and Siegel . This program will feature sparkling performances by four world class artists residing in the Willamette Valley; Robert Ashens, Carol Ann Manzi, Marc Siegel and Pamela Lehan-Siegel. This specially created concert will offer solos, duets, trios and quartets by the foursome to music from classical to contemporary blended with original choreography. Well known to area opera goers, Maestro Ashens and Manzi will join with the DTO directors to create a program to delight, surprise, move you emotionally and lift your spirits.

Dance Theatre of Oregon's second offering will be an all Bach performance for audiences of all ages entitled Bach and the Storybook. With three performances including two matinee and one evening show on Saturday, May 15 at 2:30 and 7:30 PM and Sunday, May 16 at 2:30 , Bach and the Storybook uses the music of JS Bach for all three of the programıs dances, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperorıs New Clothes and the all new Steadfast Tin Soldier. Whether classical interpretations or "switched on" Bach, the "storybook" interprets the tales with dance theater choreography featuring the DTO company as well as guest performers (ages 4-84) from the community in a delightful and colorful romp with Bach.
